Liparis punctulatus Snailfish | Japan

This is a small species of snailfish (Liparis punctulatus) that is found only in Japan. It lives among the folds of wakame seaweed stems known as mekabu (Undaria pinnatifida) and comes in an assortment of patterns and colors. This striped fish was about 1.5 centimeters in length.
