Male Humpback Whale Intimate Social Activity

Pictured here are three male humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) engaged in social interaction. The whale on the left seemed to be the recipient of most of the attention, with the interactions often appearing intimate, sometimes aggressive. The small whale that received the most attention frequently seemed irritated. At least one of the bigger whales extended his penis. Photographed in the Kingdom of Tonga.
