Blepsias cirrhosus Eggs | Silverspotted Sculpin

Silverspotted sculpins (Blepsias cirrhosus) reproduce via internal fertilization. The females deposit their eggs inside sponges. Such sponges expand and contract during the long gestation period, which sometimes leads to the eggs ending up outside of the sponge, as seen here. Photographed in Hokkaido, Japan.
