Pterois volitans Lionfish Spawning

This is a pair of red lionfish (Pterois volitans) moments before spawning. The fish came together in shallow water and eventually descended to a depth of around 20m to spawn. The female is on the left. Photographed in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.
