Architeuthis Giant Squid Arm Dropped by Sperm Whale | Ogasawara, Japan

This piece of an Architeuthis giant squid arm was dropped by an adult female sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) shortly after it came up from a deep dive to forage for food. When I retrieved this squid segment, it was as cold as ice. Photographed in Ogasawara, Japan.
