Plotosus japonicus | Japanese Striped Eel-Catfish

This is a frontal view of a Japanese striped eel-catfish (Plotosus japonicus) swimming inside of a swarm. These fish use their array of whiskers to sense minute changes in pH levels caused by respiration of cryptic prey hidden in the sediment. Photographed in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.
