This is a sub-adult signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus), which is an invasive species in Japan. The species is native to North America. It has displaced the native Japanese crayfish (Cambaroides japonicus) throughout many freshwater environments throughout the country. Photographed in Hokkaido, Japan.
