Pteromys volans orii Flying Squirrel Injured Foot

During the reproductive season, competition among male Pteromys volans orii flying squirrels sometimes gets heated. Bites, snips and other physical contact happens. This male has found a quiet place to recover from a confrontation with a rival. The animal's bloodied left foot is just visible, the result of a protracted high-speed squabble.
