This is a thornback cowfish (Lactoria fornasini) eating freshly spawned hound needlefish (Tylosurus crocodilus) eggs. The eggs were draped on top of Pavona decussata leaf corals, providing easy access for opportunistic grazers like this fish, which normally preys upon benthic animals. Photographed in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.
