  • Hvítserkur, a 15-meter tall basalt formation that sits just off the eastern shore of the Vatnsnes Peninsula in Iceland. This monolith is often called the Troll, a reference to the legend of a troll that lived in Strandir. The troll was turned to stone when it did not take shelter from the light of sunrise. The white areas on the rock comprise guano from birds.

The skeleton was relatively high above the water line, with only a little bit of flesh on the skull. Estimated length around five meters. Photographed in southeast Iceland, near Stokksnes.
